Why Bird Friendly® Matters—And What It Means for Your Morning Cup
We’ve always believed that great coffee starts with great stewardship—of land, people, and everything in between. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’re now officially Bird Friendly® certified by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center.
But what does that really mean?
It means that the coffees we roast from certified farms—like Finca La Unica in Honduras—are grown under the canopy of native trees, preserving crucial habitat for migratory birds and local wildlife. It’s shade-grown agriculture that works with the forest, not against it. And it’s considered the gold standard in environmental certifications for coffee.
It’s also about longevity. These farms don’t just produce beautiful, biodiverse lots—they help communities thrive through conservation-focused practices. Every bag brewed supports ecosystems that stretch far beyond a single cup.
Our journey to this certification was driven by the same values that guide all our decisions: We believe good coffee is about more than what’s in the cup—it’s about where it comes from, who it supports, and where it inspires you to go.
What's Next?
You’ll start seeing the Bird Friendly® seal on select products—beginning with Freestone and Mornin’ Flannel—two coffees from Finca La Unica that embody everything this certification stands for: transparency, biodiversity, and depth.
So whether you’re brewing for clarity or comfort, rest easy knowing your coffee’s making a difference, from the canopy to the countertop.
