Fantastic Colombian

Our current “everyday” drip coffee, after burning through our supply of North Coast. The medium roast and approachable familiar Columbian profile also make it a great option for guests who might have different preferences. Wide appeal without being boring or bland, or roasted to death. Lower acid and lighter roast is a combo we like.

A medium roast gives this washed coffee from Finca La Unica a pleasantly sweet aroma and a balanced taste of brown sugar and apricot. Freestone is an easy-to-drink, medium bodied coffee.

Located at 1400 meters above sea level under the watchful eye of Mount Tenan, the fifty-acre farm is home to rare micro-lots. Formerly a cattle farm, Finca La Unica was purchased in 2016 by Leticia Lopez Hutchins, a 5th generation coffee farmer. Leticia is proud to be an example for women by owning her own land and taking ownership of a role typically reserved for men in Honduras.

Visit Finca La Unica and you'll find hidden gems throughout the gorgeous rows of coffee trees, whether it be stunning views, cacao trees, lemons the size of your head, or wild berries.

Why Freestone? Freestone rivers are entirely dependent on runoff from rain and melting snow. They are free-flowing and unencumbered by dams. The Oconaluftee River in North Carolina is an example of a freestone river, holding populations of rainbow, brook and brown trout. We searched for a coffee that was reminiscent of a cool, clear, free-flowing river and found it while working with our direct trade partner at Finca Terrerito.
