Embers Decaf comes from Planadas, Tolima, Colombia, and is decaffeinated using the sugarcane / ethyl acetate method — a process that uses a naturally derived compound from fermented sugarcane. The beans are gently steamed and rinsed with ethyl acetate, which selectively bonds with caffeine while preserving flavor. It’s especially popular in Colombia and tends to produce a sweet, mellow profile, with the added benefit of using renewable, locally sourced materials.
